LOCATION
The Kele Project is located on Vangunu Island in the Western Province
of the Solomon Islands. Vangunu Island is part of the New Georgia
Islands Group, approximately 1 hour flight time from Guadalcanal
and Honiara, the Capital city of the Solomon Islands. See our location
map.
EXPLORATION
Current drilling and trenching by XDM Resources has identified
excellent resource potential for both zones of high grade gold mineralisation
(intrusive/epithermal style) and copper-gold mineralisation (porphyry
style).
See
Kele Project Map.
The hydrothermal system extends over an area of >6km2 and represents
an under-explored target in a district containing world class mineral
deposits. Highlights from the work completed by XDM Resources to
date include:
Kele Gold Intrusive/Epithermal Prospect:
Mineralisation strike potential over <1.6km.
- Trench results; 23 metres at 7.46 grams per tonne gold
- Recent drill results; KLDD001, 11m @ 3.40 g/t Au from 36m (incl.
6m @ 6.15 g/t Au)
- Untested extensions beneath shallow alluvial cover (<10m
of cover) with maximum float sampling results of 75.6 g/t Au
- New airborne magnetic data
Kele Copper-Gold Porphyry Prospect: Untested
geophysical targets (magnetic and induced polarisation) with resource
potential for high grade gold and also bulk tonnage copper-gold.
- Trench results of 79 metres at 1.66 grams per tonne gold and
0.10 % copper (open)
- Rock chip float sampling maximum result of 117 g/t Au
- Drilling in progress
